Admissions and Transfers

Admissions

All children who join Vermont School will have an Education, Health and Care Plan. Vermont is a school for 50 primary aged children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. Whilst this is the primary area of need many children also have associated other needs or conditions and with varying needs of complexity such as:

  • Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  • ADHD
  • Speech and language disorder, impairment or delay
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties
  • Attachment Disorders

All admissions are agreed and directed by the Southampton City Council SEND Team. On receiving a request for admission from the local education authority, the school considers the information and details very carefully before a place is agreed.

Once a place has been offered, parents are asked to meet with the Head Teacher to share information about their child and complete the schools forms. A start date and a period of transition is agreed and for in year transfers, a short period of part time schooling may be arranged in line with the individual child’s circumstances and needs. All placements are reviewed on an annual basis through the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan.
