Humanities

What is Humanities?

Humanities brings together History and Geography. It helps children explore people, places, and stories from the past and present, starting with their own school and community and reaching out into the wider world.

Why do we teach Humanities?

We teach Humanities because it helps children make sense of the world and their place in it. Through exciting, practical activities, pupils build knowledge, confidence, and resilience. They learn to ask questions, be curious, share ideas, and see things from different perspectives, preparing them for life beyond school.

How we teach Humanities.

We teach Humanities through practical, reflective, and inclusive sessions where every child has the chance to take part and succeed. Learning is brought to life with stories, outdoor experiences, role play, and collaborative activities that make lessons memorable and enjoyable. Enrichment opportunities and local trips give pupils first-hand experiences of the world around them and help to grow their cultural capital. Throughout every session, we focus on developing key skills such as self-regulation, teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving, so that children not only learn about people, places, and the past but also build the confidence and resilience they need for life.
